Crown and Bridge Work
Ceramic crowns completely cover the exposed tooth down to the gum line. They are often used to repair teeth that have undergone root canal treatment or have broken down from decay or a fracture too extensive to be restored by filling. Our state of the art crown milling machine with custom shading along with working with one of the best dental labs in the Metroplex allows us to create an incredibly lifelike and natural appearance.
Bridges are used to replace one tooth or multiple teeth. A series of crowns are crafted to replace the missing teeth. These are bonded permanently to natural teeth on either end of the span. The materials used for creating a bridge are similar to those of a crown, allowing a custom shade of ceramic to match your surrounding teeth.
Dental implants can be used to replace a single missing tooth, multiple teeth, or even an entire set of teeth. Dental implants can also be used to provide additional stability to full or partial dentures. Dr. Andersen works closely with some of the area’s top surgeons, periodontists, and lab technicians to help recreate their patients’ natural smiles.
Whether you are missing a few teeth or all of your teeth, a denture is a great option for replacing your missing teeth. A partial denture consists of a metal or acrylic framework with the missing teeth set outside. The partial uses your existing teeth for anchoring and stability, which will allow you to eat and speak naturally. We are careful to match both the shade of your gums and teeth to create a seamless transition to your natural teeth.
A complete denture, on the other hand, replaces an entire set of missing teeth. It uses your existing tissue and bone for support and stability. For some patients, this is enough to eat and speak naturally. For others, additional support may be needed, and dental implants that anchor the denture to the mouth may be necessary to keep the denture from coming loose. Dr. Andersen can provide a thorough evaluation and discuss many options for replacing missing teeth.
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry guidelines state that a child’s first dental checkup should occur when the first teeth appear and no later than the child’s first birthday. While this may seem early, starting children young helps build healthy habits and desensitizes children to visiting the dentist which helps create a pleasant experience as the child grows. Dr. Andersen is comfortable seeing patients as young as six months for evaluation. In addition to being the father of two young children, he completed an honors program in pediatric dentistry in dental school and has years of experience treating young kids. Dr. Andersen encourages you to bring the entire family to the office.
Very few people are blessed with perfect teeth, but fortunately, boding ceramic veneers for many will improve their smiles dramatically. For some, decay, staining, and wear can make teeth appear unnatural. Dr. Andersen uses only the best dental materials and lab technicians to rebuild smiles.
Here is only one example of Dr. Andersen’s work. This young man was born with teeth that came in with natural hypocalcifaction spots, which are the white stains seen in the first photograph, misshapen teeth, and spaces that even his orthodontist could not close. Over three appointments (one of which was to whiten the lower teeth), Dr. Andersen gave the patient a much more natural and uniform smile.
Same Day Crowns
Advances in cosmetic dentistry have created CEREC 3D, a revolutionary new way for you to restore broken or damaged teeth quickly and easily, through the use of high quality ceramic materials that match the natural color of your teeth. CEREC crowns can be made the same day for most patients using our intraoral scanner and in-house lab. For you, this means fewer appointments, less time away from work or family, and a more comfortable experience.
Your lifestyle and the aging process can stain and darken your teeth. Many things we do on a regular basis can contribute to stained teeth, including coffee and tea consumption, smoking, and even taking certain medications. We offer a wide array of whitening products, from custom-made trays you can take home with you, to more powerful in-office whitening that can give you dramatic improvement in as little as one hour-long appointment. Come visit so we can discuss your options and create a plan that best suits your needs.
Overcome your fears and enjoy great dental health with sedation dentistry. Experience sedation dentistry once and you will never be afraid to go the dentist again. Relax while we create the smile you've dreamed about in as little as one appointment. Dr. Andersen is certified and trained in both nitrous oxide (laughing gas) and oral sedation and maintains proper credentialing to ensure patient safety.
TMD Treatment (Tempro-Mandibular Joint Dysfunction)
TMD (Tempro-Mandibular Joint Dysfunction) is a condition created by the combination of a bad bite and stress. A patient with TMD may experience jaw joint pain, headaches, ringing in the ears, muscle aches or any number of other related symptoms. In some cases, the person with TMD will be unable to open his or her mouth wide, or will hear clicking, cracking or a "pop".
TMD can occur with some sort of unusual stress, such as final exams, or job-related issues, or a severe blow to the jaw, such as from athletics or an automobile accident. For some, the discomfort may come and go spontaneously.
Many dentists will manage TMD with a simple “nightguard” and over-the-counter pain medicines. For some, this may work well. However, Dr. Andersen understands that the joint and its muscles are a very complex system. In fact, the TMJ is the most complex joint in the human body. Dr. Andersen takes the time to develop a proper diagnosis first and will evaluate if the issue lies with the joint, the muscles, or a combination. Through a combination of exercises, splint therapy, and a network of area doctors, Dr. Andersen will work with you to alleviate any TMJ pain and improve quality of life.
No matter your age, orthodontics is available to you, but we understand how teens and adults would be too embarrassed to wear traditional metal braces for an extended amount of time. Thankfully, Dr. Andersen has an alternative solution! With the help of Invisalign in Allen TX, we're still able to properly align your smile without having to deal with metal wires and brackets.
Dr. Andersen is Invisalign certified and has treated dozens of patients (including himself) with these proprietary clear aligners. Cleaning and Periodontal Treatment
For many patients, checkup and cleanings twice per year are sufficient. However, if it has been a while since your last visit with us, a deeper cleaning may be indicated. After a deep cleaning or periodontal scaling and root planning, we typically will want to see you on a more frequent schedule so that we can ensure that your gums and tissue bounce back to their healthy state as quickly as possible. Our hygienists will ensure that your cleanings are both comfortable and thorough. Whether it has been six months or six years, come schedule a visit so we can properly evaluate your cleaning needs.
